life soundtrack: empire records

Released in 1995, the same year as me. 

This cult classic favourite and oh-soo 90s film has one of the best soundtracks, like ever.  However, many of the legendary film-enhancing songs featured in the film did not make it on to the official soundtrack: The Cruel Sea (Aussie band HELL YES), multiple songs from The Dirt Clods AND EVEN AC/DC were left out.... how this happened I will never know. 
So ya, here they are for your hearing pleasure.

ladies and gentlemen… norah jones

I feel obliged to share with you all the extraordinary talents of the one and only, Norah Jones. 

Her songwriting and musicianship are things I hope to emulate in my own music. Good God, what a beauty. This is one of my favourite tunes by her, What Am I To You? and yet another live version here. But they really are all more than great, let's be honest. Best thing I ever got was her first two records on vinyl as my first two LPs. Have probably listened to them both one hundred times over at least. She never gets old. Enjoy, friends... she fell straight from heaven x

The Temper TrapOn Saturday, some friends and I road trip'd two and a half hours south of Perth to Bunbury for Groovin the Moo! I also dip-dyed my hair for the occasion, completing my life-long dream of being a mermaid...lets just say there were feathers and shells involved...Twas a smashing day, with highlights above- from Matt and Kim, Tame Impala, The Temper Trap and of course my one true love,  The Kooks; all completed with outrageous festival/Coachella vibes... I also used up two disposable cameras throughout the day, so many more GTM snaps to come that I haven't even seen yet ! Stay tuned kids!!

a valis seventeenth

So. Today I is my seventeenth birthday. Here you have a glimpse of what it consisted of:

Thomas Sabo, the quickly disappearing sun, cappuccino cheese cake, Bloc Party in a record store, the police as a promptly entered a crime scene, a Katrantzou siting, the sweet smells of Glasshouse candles, and my guitar returning home from being re-strung. 

This song will always remind me of this day.
